Staying healthy and fit through the phases of menopause is not easy but it is possible.  As a personal trainer in Santa Clarita and a women in menopause I am using my experience and knowledge of both fitness and what I have been studying and doing while I travel through menopause to stay healthy and fit and it is working!!!  I am so excited to share this information with you!!

Menopause Fitness

Are you spending hours in the gym and eating clean but are gaining weight?  Are you using the fitness training programs you were using in your 30s and instead of seeing results you are gaining weight and even injuring yourself?  Did you pull out that fitness plan you saw in a magazine or online and wonder why it isn’t working for you?  You are not alone.  Lets look at Fitness plan that will work and I am going to call it Menopause Fitness.

Most women in menopause have the same complaint.  “I want to lose that extra weight around the middle”  A few will even grab it and show it to me out of pure frustration.  Menopause shifts the way your body deposits fat and it deposits it right into your belly.  To address this, the best fitness plan for you is  weight training and HIIT training.  You do not need to spend hours in the gym to accomplish this you can combine the 2 types of training into 1 hour workout by weight training for 60 minutes including 5 1 minute bursts of HIIT training or 45 minutes weight training 10 minutes of core training and finishing with 5 minutes of HIIT training.

HIIT training is short for High intensity Interval training 20 seconds high impact followed by 10 seconds of recovery.  HIIT burns fat and maintains muscle mass which is very important  do to the fact that in Menopause you start losing muscle mass at about 35 and that mass comes back as fat if you do not continue to address it.

Weight training is varied in terms of what you can do to build muscle mass.  The most important part of weight training is making sure your form is correct to prevent injury.  Your body already cannot handle what you did when you where younger due to  hormone changes.

The bottom line is this you need to listen to your body and pay attention to your results. If what you are doing is not working, do not be discouraged there is a fitness plan out there for you and as a personal trainer who has been building training programs for over 30 years I can build the perfect one for you.
